PPIMA supporting Communities to influence Government priorities in Nyamagabe District.
In Nyamagabe District, through PPIMA-funded advocacy platforms, specifically the District Dialogue Forum(DDF), the well-trained GFPs under ADENYA organization presented the issue of lack of electricity to a number of cells in Nkomane and Mugano Sectors. The issue was positively responded to by the district decision makers during the planning and budgeting process for the 2020/2021 fiscal year. As a result of these efforts, the District allocated a budget of approximately Rwandan Francs (RWF) 960,936,93 to the electricity extension project for the cells of the above-mentioned sectors.
Forming long-term partnerships
The impassable bridge over the Ngeno River in Nyagatare District, made of old wood, has largely contributed to the issue of limited food supply, agro inputs and other services in many cells along the river, including some parts of the neighboring Gicumbi District. Through AJPRODHO organization a PPIMA partner, the CSC cycle that was conducted in 2020 to facilitate the identification of citizens’ priorities for the 2020/2021 planning and budgeting process, was an opportune moment for the people of Cyenjiji and Karujumba cells to appropriately advance the issue. AJPRODHO through the implementation of PPIMA programme, together with the well trained programme GFPs, elevated the issue from the cell to the district, which was subsequently considered and incorporated in the district plan and budget for the fiscal year 2020/2021. This was among the many citizen priorities emerging from the Community Scorecard findings that were advocated for through numerous PPIMA-facilitated forums.

A partners’ Annual General reflective meeting held on 28th and 29th October brought together all PPIMA partner organizations to discuss the 2020-2021 programme’s milestones reached so far, challenges encountered and agreed on possible solutions. The event was attended by mostly heads of organizations, programme managers, finance staff, NPA staff as well as a representative from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The event that was attended by 53 participants took place at Lemigo Hotel, Kigali, Rwanda.

Supporting citizens’ knowledge of their rights and access to mechanisms for justice, reporting corruption and resolving conflict in the community, particularly as it relates to gender discrimination and GBV.

Seeking to influence policy and planning at local and national levels to take account of climate change-related risks.
